Located about 15 Km from the nearest paved road (in Nazret), Wonji is a small town that grew around a sugar plantation and refinery, now shuttered. The town is very poor. Redeem the Generation operates a youth and women's development center in Wonji where functional skills (e.g., counting, literacy), cultural arts (e.g., dancing), and basic education are taught. From the Center, RTG also provides small business education and supports microfinance initiatives for women.
